Back in the fall I had the pleasure of meeting Katie + Mike for their engagement session at Graue Mill and the nearby Fullersburg County Forest Preserve. It’s always such a treat to immediately click with my couples and know we’re going to have fun making beautiful pictures, and these two were full of big smiles and great humor the whole time. Their fall engagement images are a nice contrast to their summer wedding.
Katie was so calm and poised when I walked into her hotel suite. With the normal happy chaos of friends and family in the room with her, she was so go-with-the-flow and ready to marry a wonderful man. Things went so smoothly… until we got in the limo! There’s always something that goes wrong at a wedding, and generally it’s something small like a crystal falling off a tiara or a bit of unexpected rain. This time, it was a limo breakdown. With no air conditioning on a super hot day, we all hopped out at the intersection to wait in shade while the bridesmaids tried to pull together rides for all of us. While the gentlemen scrambled at the church to get their cars to pick us up, an Oak Brook Community Service Officer saw our situation and drove three of us to the ceremony! His sense of humor brought the mood back up and certainly made for a memorable event. After that, everything went beautifully: the priest opened a joke (“with all the careful planning that goes into a wedding, what could possibly go wrong?”), the couple got hitched, and the replacement limo was a party bus stocked with beer for the wedding party. Congratulations Katie + Mike, and thank you for sharing your adventure with me!
